2 men dead after shooting, car crash in Henderson

Two men are dead after a shooting inside a car that crashed into a Henderson home early Tuesday.

Police responded to reports of a vehicle that crashed into a home in the 100 block of Trenier Drive, near Horizon Ridge Parkway and Mission Drive, and caught fire about 12:20 a.m., according to Henderson Police Department spokeswoman Michelle French.

Detectives on the scene determined that four men were traveling in the dark-colored Nissan Altima on Trenier when an altercation between the four men erupted inside the vehicle. A passenger in the car fired several shots, striking and killing the driver and front-seat passenger, police said.

The vehicle left the roadway at a slow rate of speed and crashed into the home, causing a fire in the car’s engine compartment. The Henderson Fire Department extinguished the blaze, according to French.

Police said the homeowners were not injured, but the home had minor damage.

The two surviving passengers were treated at the scene by paramedics and are cooperating with detectives, police said. Their names have not been released.

Police said the incident is being investigated as a homicide, but no one is in custody.

The dead men will be identified by the Clark County coroner once their families have been notified.

These are the fourth and fifth homicides investigated by Henderson police in 2016. Last year, the city investigated four.
