Coroner identifies man stabbed to death Sunday

The Clark County coroner on Monday has identified the man who died at the hospital from stab wounds Sunday evening.

Michael William Omalia, 31, died from his injuries a few hours after arriving to the University Medical Center Trauma Center.

About 4:46 p.m., patrol officers responded to UMC to investigate a report that a man had been brought in suffering from apparent stab wounds and was in critical condition, police said.

The investigation by Metro’s homicide section shows Omalia was at a residence located in the 200 block of Sir Phillip Street, when he got into a verbal altercation, and then a physical fight, with another man. During that fight, Omalia was stabbed and taken to the hospital, police said.

This is the 111th homicide investigated by Metro this year.
