The man shot and killed Thursday north of downtown Las Vegas has been named by the Clark County coroner.
The 39-year-old man, who died from multiple gunshot wounds, was Gordon Phillips Jr., the county coroner said; his death was ruled a homicide.
About 9:30 p.m. Thursday, officers found Phillips suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in front of a business on the 1200 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North, between Washington and Owens avenues. He died at University Medical Center, police said.
Michael McNair, 30, was arrested Friday on a first-degree murder charge in the shooting. He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
Surveillance video from a business did not capture the shooting, Metropolitan Police Department homicide Lt. Dan McGrath said, but shows two men exiting a black pickup truck before arguing with the man. Homicide detectives later identified McNair as a suspect.
Phillips’ death marks the 136th homicide in Clark County and the 114th investigated by Metro this year.
