Las Vegas girl’s December death caused by blunt force injuries

The December death of a 3-year-old Las Vegas girl has been ruled a homicide, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Maliyah Collins died on Dec. 23 from multiple blunt force injuries to the torso, a spokeswoman at the coroner’s office said Friday.

According to Clark County Department of Family Services records, the agency received a report around 9:30 p.m. on that date indicating that emergency medical personnel had responded to a residence after a 911 call. Maliyah was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

The department and Child Protective Services had no prior history for Collins, her family or her household before her death, according to the records.

On Friday, Las Vegas police spokesman Larry Hadfield said he had no information about the case.
