Las Vegas police find dead man on northeast valley road

Las Vegas police investigators believe a man found dead on a northeast valley road early Saturday morning had been shot and dumped there.

Just before 6:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 4100 block of Sunrise Avenue for reports of a man in the roadway, police said. Arriving officers found an unresponsive man who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The investigation indicates the man was shot at a different location and dumped on the road, police said. Police also received a report that a silver pickup left the area after a gunshot was heard earlier in the morning.

This is the 64th homicide investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department this year.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the man’s identity once family members have been notified.
