Las Vegas police looking for 2 suspects in 2017 homicide
Police have asked for the public’s help Tuesday to find two suspects wanted in the 2017 slaying of a Las Vegas man whose body was thrown down an Arizona mine shaft.
Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ray Spencer said David Rathbun, 62, was killed shortly after he invited Jolene Hibbs, 45, to live in his Las Vegas home in August 2017. Rathbun was reported missing by family in October of that same year.
With the help of a tipster, Rathbun’s remains were found nearly a year later in Arizona, dumped down a mine shaft. Police now believe Hibbs partnered with her boyfriend, Charles Ausiello, 55, in a complex financial scam that targeted Rathbun, and which culminated in his killing.
“Over the last couple of years we have tried extensively to find both of the suspects,” Spencer said.
Spencer said Ausiello and Hibbs are each wanted on an open murder warrant. Police have no leads on their whereabouts. The ages provided by police were unchanged from two years ago.
