Las Vegas police looking for two suspects after man found dead in his home Saturday

Las Vegas police are looking for two suspects in connection with the shooting death of a man found dead in his south valley home Saturday afternoon.

The man killed, Thomas Frank Jones V, 35, of Las Vegas, died from a gunshot wound to the jaw, the county coroner’s office confirmed Monday. The shooting happened about 2 p.m. Saturday inside Jones’ 6361 Sandpiper Way home, near South Torrey Pines Drive and West Twain Avenue, dispatch logs show.

Police said Jones’ roommate and girlfriend were home during the home invasion and shooting, but neither was injured. Police added that there was an altercation before the shooting, and that the incident may have been drug-related.

After the shooting, neighbors saw two men walking away from the home. On Monday, police said one of those men can be seen in surveillance footage wearing a long-sleeved checkered shirt, and the other can be seen wearing a white shirt and black backpack. Both were wearing hats.

Police also said that before the shooting, the two men had pulled up around the corner from Jones’ home in a yellow moving truck. The truck had been reported stolen, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide unit at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

Jones’ death was the 148th homicide investigated by Las Vegas police in 2016.
