Man dies after being shot Monday night in central Las Vegas

A man died Monday night after being shot at a central valley apartment complex, officials confirmed Tuesday.

Officers responded just before 7 p.m. to reports of a gunshot following an argument between a group of men at the Mi Casita Apartments, 3601 Cambridge St., near Twain Avenue, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

Arriving officers found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound to the head near one of the apartment buildings, Meltzer said.

It appears there was a barbecue outside an apartment at the time of the shooting, police said. It is unclear whether anyone there was involved.

The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died. The coroner’s office will name him once his family has been notified.

His death was the 71st homicide that Metro has investigated this year. No suspects are in custody so far.
