Officers discovered the man asleep in his vehicle around 1:27 a.m. on the 3800 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard with a handgun and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department.

When police attempted to speak to the man he woke up and drove off. Officers later found the man pull his vehicle into a convenience store on the 4400 block of North Jones Boulevard, more than 12 miles away, where the man ran into the bathroom, police said.

The man will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family is notified.
