North Las Vegas police are investigating a possible road-rage shooting that left a 35-year-old man dead near Craig Road and North Fifth Street early Friday.
About 3:30 a.m. officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area and found a man dead in a car. Witnesses at the scene told police that the shooting was related to a road-rage incident.
Multiple people — including a young child not yet in kindergarten — were in the car that was fired upon, police spokeswoman Ann Cavaricci said.
The person killed was the passenger, not the driver. He was shot once.
Because of the preliminary investigation, Cavaricci could not describe the possible road-rage incident before the shooting that “caused tempers to flare.” She said witnesses indicated the passenger was involved in the road-rage incident and added neither party got out of a car during the shooting.
No one else was injured during the shooting.
North Las Vegas police are searching for a dark-colored Mitsubishi Eclipse in connection with the shooting.
Craig Road between North Commerce and Fifth streets was closed for the investigation but has reopened.
