North Las Vegas shooting leaves 1 dead

Updated January 22, 2019 - 8:03 pm

A man died Tuesday after a shooting in a North Las Vegas neighborhood, police said.

Officers were called just before 4 p.m. to Rancho Linda and Casa Norte Drive, a residential area near West Craig Road and North Commerce Street, after reports of multiple shots fired, North Las Vegas Police Department spokesman Aaron Patty said at the scene.

When police arrived, they found a 36-year-old man lying in the road suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Patty said. The man died at the scene.

“It’s too early in the investigation to decide at this point if the subject lived in this area,” Patty said of the man.

Detectives on Tuesday night were still determining what led to the shooting and if the shooter knew the victim. Patty said that “possibly a vehicle was involved” in the shooting.

“This was during rush hour where people were still coming and going,” he said. “If anybody did see or hear anything, again we can’t say that enough, please call us.”

Anyone with information may contact North Las Vegas police at 702-633-9111, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

The shooting came a day after North Las Vegas police fatally shot a man they said rammed several vehicles, including a patrol vehicle, in front of a residence on the 2100 block of Glider Street. Police discovered a body inside the residence while clearing it following the shooting, and officers are investigating the death as a homicide.

Patty said Monday’s shooting was unrelated to the shooting Tuesday evening.

Another man was fatally shot hours earlier on Tuesday in the central Las Vegas Valley. At about 1:15 p.m., officers were called to the area of Brittlewood Avenue and Lamoille Circle, near East Russell and South Pecos roads, where they found a man lying in the road with at least one gunshot wound, Metropolitan Police Department homicide Lt. Ray Spencer said.

Metro detectives have not identified a suspect and were still determining if the man was shot in the neighborhood, or if he was dropped off there.
