Updated December 20, 2017 - 3:08 pm

A man was shot to death in the west valley Tuesday night, Las Vegas police said.

Police received a call of the shooting at 11:33 p.m. When they arrived at 3644 S. Fort Apache Road, police found a man who had been shot, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

Police said the man suffered a single gunshot wound to his chest and was found on the ground between two buildings. Neighbors told police they heard two gunshots and saw a person running from the area.

The man died on scene, Gordon said; the shooter or shooters remain at large.

Earlier in the evening, around 6:30 p.m., another man was shot and killed on the 3600 block of Starbright Lane near El Capitan Way and Spring Mountain Road.

This marks the 214th homicide Metro has investigated this year, and the 245th investigated within Clark County.

Despite the close proximity, there is no indication the two homicides are related, Gordon said.

Anyone with information can call Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521, or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
