Suspect in Laughlin homicide case waives extradition

A suspect in a homicide that happened in Laughlin last week waived extradition at a Monday appearance in Mohave County Superior Court in Kingman.

Judge Billy Sipe told Walter Klatt, 49, of Needles, California, that it could take about two weeks for authorities to make necessary arrangements to return him to Clark County.

Klatt is being held without bond in the county jail in Kingman. Klatt was arrested in Bullhead City early June 8, after a resident found a murder victim’s body near a pedestrian overpass.

Klatt was jailed for littering and was held on the Nevada fugitive warrant, charging him Dwight Franken’s murder.

Officers from Las Vegas’ Metropolitan Police Department said there were signs of trauma and a struggle where the 54-year-old transient’s body was found.
