A 43-year-old woman was found dead with at least one gunshot wound in the west valley early Friday morning, Las Vegas police said.

About 1:10 a.m., police received multiple reports of gunshots at an apartment complex on the 6600 block of West Washington Avenue, near North Rainbow Boulevard, Metro homicide Lt. Ray Spencer said at a news briefing.

Security officers found the victim dead in the parking lot of the Cornerstone Crossing Apartments, 6666 W. Washington Ave.

The Clark County coroner’s office on Friday afternoon identified her as 43-year-old Arkedra Shamona Taylor. Her death was ruled a homicide due to gunshot wounds of the head, the coroner’s office said.

Police on Friday morning had not located any suspects and were still canvassing the area.

Taylor’s death marks the 42nd Metro homicide investigation this year, and the 57th in Clark County, according to Review-Journal records.

Police urged anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or Metro’s homicide unit at 702-828-3521.
