Inmate serving time at Northern Nevada Correctional Center dies at Carson City hospital

An inmate at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center died Tuesday evening at a Carson City hospital, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Ramses Reyes, 43, died at Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City around 5:45 p.m., public information officer Brooke Keast said Thursday.

Reyes was committed to the Northern Nevada facility from Clark County on Dec. 24, 2007, and was serving 600 months for two counts of lewdness with a minor and one count of attempted use of a child producing pornography, Keast said.

Reyes was in the correction center regional medical facility prior to being taken to the hospital. Usually when they are housed in that facility, they are sick, Keast said.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office coroner responded to the hospital and an autopsy is being scheduled.
