Metro asking for help identifying suspect in robbery near UNLV

Las Vegas detectives are asking for help in identifying a man they say robbed a business near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Wednesday morning.

Police arrived in the 4600 block of Maryland Parkway, near Del Mar Street, at 9:23 a.m., according to a Metro press release. Several employees of the business reported the suspect fled before officers arrived.

The business was not identified in the release.

The suspect, armed with a handgun, waited by the back entrance of the business. When an employee stepped out, police said he demanded money from the safe. It’s not known what was taken.

Police described the man as 17 to 25 years old and about 6 feet 2 inches with a medium build. He was wearing a gray coat with large black fasteners on the front, a gray knit hat and gray pants.
