2 arrested after hours-long barricade situation in west Las Vegas Valley

A barricade situation that began after a convenience store robbery Tuesday afternoon in the west valley ended hours later without injury.

Police initially received a 2:42 p.m. call reporting a “strong-armed robbery” at a 5325 S. Fort Apache Rd. convenience store, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Officers later found at least one suspect barricaded inside an apartment in the 9900 block of West Russell Road. Nearby apartment residents were made aware of the situation and asked to either stay inside or leave the complex.

At about 5:10 p.m. Tuesday., police said one suspect was taken into custody after a short chase on foot. A second suspect remained barricaded inside the apartment but was ultimately arrested by SWAT without injury.

Police did not name the two arrested. SWAT and other officers began clearing the scene about 10 p.m.
