2 wear Halloween masks in string of robberies in southwest Las Vegas

Two armed people in Halloween masks attempted a string of robberies, firing a shot during one, early Wednesday morning in the southwest valley, Las Vegas police said.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said the two targeted four businesses between 3 and 4 a.m.

At the Terrible Herbst convenience store at 9380 W. Tropicana Ave. they demanded money from the clerk but left with cigarettes.

At Sicily’s Pizza, 3585 S. Durango Drive, they demanded money but the clerk said he couldn’t open the register. They left without money or property.

At U.S. Gas, 3675 S. Durango Drive, they took cash from the clerk.

At the ARCO ampm gas station at 1625 S. Decatur Blvd., the suspects approached the clerk who was outside the store. They entered the store with the clerk, then the clerk retreated outside. The suspects followed and one of them fired a single shot at the clerk but missed. The suspects left without any money or property.

The suspects were seen leaving in a light blue or silver four-door vehicle possibly driven by a third person, Gordon said.
