Metro looking for man who tried to rob northwest Las Vegas bank

Las Vegas police are looking for a man who tried to rob a northwest valley bank Thursday afternoon.

About 11:30 a.m., the man walked into the Bank of America at 8550 W. Cheyenne Ave., near the Durango Drive intersection, and waited in line, Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Franklin Farmer said. Once at the teller, he handed over a note that said he had a weapon and wanted money.

At that point, Farmer said another customer walked up to the man and asked if “everything was alright.” The man left the bank without taking any money.

Farmer said the man may have been in the area of Durango and Ann Road before the attempted robbery.

The man was described as a white or Hispanic with a medium build wearing all black with gray or brown shoes. He was also wearing a straw hat and sunglasses.

Anyone with information is urged to call Metro at 702-828-3591 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
