Police arrest suspect in 9 ‘cruiser’ robberies after he robbed a Burger King Friday

Las Vegas police arrested the son of Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Steve Ross in connection with a series of nine “cruiser” robberies earlier this week after he robbed a Burger King on the west side of the valley Friday morning.

Officers responded to a robbery call at a Burger King at 3485 S. Rainbow Blvd., near Spring Mountain Road, just after 7 a.m. Friday. The robber fled the scene but was located and arrested less than 30 minutes later at another business near Rainbow and Flamingo Road, just two blocks away.

Police said the suspect may be connected to several armed robberies in the same area on Aug. 16. During what police dubbed as the “cruiser” robberies, the suspect parked a motorcycle outside businesses before robbing them at gunpoint and fleeing on the motorcycle.

Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Frank Farmer of Metro’s robbery section confirmed that Shane Ross was arrested in connection with the robbery Friday.

Ross was booked into the Clark County Detention Center with one charge of robbery with a deadly weapon and burglary while in possession of a gun, booking documents show.
