Security guard pistol-whipped during Forum Shops armed robbery

A security guard at the Rolex store in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace was pistol-whipped late Thursday during an armed robbery.

About 20 minutes before the luxury mall at 3500 Las Vegas Blvd. South closed at 11 p.m., five black males in their late teens to mid-20s smashed some of the shop’s storefront glass and display cases, making off with an unknown number of watches, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Charles Jenkins said.

At some point during the robbery, at least one of the robbers whacked the store’s security guard in the head with a firearm. The guard was taken to University Medical Center for treatment.

No suspects were in custody as of 12:15 a.m. The group of five left the luxury mall in a vehicle, but no vehicle description had been released as of early Friday.
