The 35-year-old black man is about 180 pounds and about 5 feet 5 inches with black hair and brown eyes, police said. He was last seen wearing a white tank top and green camouflage pants.

The first incident happened about 4:30 a.m., when police were called to the 1500 block of West Cheyenne Avenue, near the Martin Luther King Boulevard intersection, North Las Vegas Police Department spokesman Aaron Patty said.

Officers arrived and found a woman, 41, who had been hit several times by a man, she told police. The man tried to sexually assault her but she escaped.

A short time later and a half-mile north, police were called to Martin Luther King and Gowan Road, where another woman, 25, had been beaten by a similarly described man. She told police he sexually assaulted her.

Both women were taken to University Medical Center for treatment.
