1 dead, 1 critical in possible murder-suicide attempt

Updated March 16, 2017 - 6:16 pm

A man died in what police said may have been an attempted murder-suicide Thursday in downtown Las Vegas.

Las Vegas police responded about 12:15 p.m. to the 2200 block of Elm Avenue, near Eastern and Stewart avenues, where they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were taken in critical condition to University Medical Center, where the man later died, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Metro spokesman Larry Hadfield said the man may have tried to kill the woman before killing himself.

The man appeared to have been the aggressor, Hadfield said.

The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Clark County coroner’s office. The coroner also will release the man’s identity once next of kin have been notified.
