Updated March 13, 2017 - 5:18 pm

Las Vegas police found a man’s body Monday after entering a northwest valley residence where a possible gunshot had been heard hours earlier.

Police discovered the body at about 4:30 p.m.

A constable had been serving an eviction notice around noon on the 4900 block of Signal Drive, near Decatur Boulevard and Lone Mountain Road, when a possible gunshot was heard, police said.

The constable retreated down the street and was not injured. The surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
