Las Vegas police investigate ‘random’ shooting on J Street

Las Vegas police found several bullet casings on J Street near Washington Avenue after a report of people shooting randomly out of a moving vehicle just before midnight Monday.

Officers recovered about 40 shell casings of various calibers, officer Danny Cordero said. “That doesn’t necessarily mean 40 rounds were fired,” he added.

Lt. David Gordon said three nearby homes were struck by bullets, but no injuries were reported.

Gordon also said a witness saw a dark-colored SUV driving down J Street with people inside shooting “randomly” out the window.

J Street between Adams and Washington avenues was temporarily taped off as detectives investigated the scene but was reopened about 4 a.m.
