Updated December 18, 2017 - 7:10 pm

A man was shot Monday afternoon at a south central valley apartment complex, Las Vegas police said.

Police were called at 2:50 p.m. about a shooting on the 1500 block of East Rochelle Avenue, near Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road.

Initial reports suggested that someone fired rounds into a residence, police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said. One man had been shot in the leg.

Meltzer said the shooter fled the scene before police arrived was at large Monday afternoon.

The motive for the shooting is unclear, but the shooter and victim may have known each other, Meltzer said.
