Police investigating shooting in east Las Vegas

Las Vegas police are investigating a homicide at a northeast valley gas station early Thursday morning.

About 6:15 a.m. two men began fighting at the gas pumps in front of a Chevron station on Lake Mead Boulevard and Hollywood when a third man approached and fired several shots, police said

The shooter fled the scene with one of the men while the other died in the parking lot.

Police are searching for two suspects. The shooter is a white man, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts at the time of the shooting. The other suspect, who was fighting the man who died, is a Hispanic man with a similar build. He was wearing a gray T-shirt and dark jeans. Both men fled the scene in a dark-colored four-door sedan.

At about 9 a.m. Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Dan McGrath said detectives were still reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses. He said that no one had examined the body yet, but it appeared the dead man may have gang tattoos. McGrath said it wasn’t yet known if the dead man knew the man that shot him or the man he was fighting.

The Clark County coroner will release the name of the dead man once his next of kin have been notified.
