Suspect jailed in shooting incident near Las Vegas Strip

Updated February 22, 2017 - 6:02 pm

A suspect has been booked on assault and other charges in Tuesday’s shooting incident near the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Las Vegas police said Wednesday.

During a physical altercation between rapper Sean Kingston and music group Migos outside of the convention center about 4:15 p.m., the Florida man allegedly fired at least one shot from a firearm in the area. No injuries were reported.

Moises Johnson, 28, was detained by security before being turned over to police and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Metropolitan Police Department officer Danny Cordero said “the real story here” is not the celebrities involved. “The real story is that one shot was fired and the handgun was recovered,” he said. “That’s the matter of public safety.”

The convention center was hosting Agenda Las Vegas, a three-day fashion show, which ran Monday through Wednesday . The show brings “many key media, celebrities and high-level fashion executives” to the valley, according to Agenda’s website.
