Updated September 15, 2017 - 9:00 pm

Las Vegas police are investigating the stabbing of a man Friday afternoon near downtown Las Vegas.

Just after 3:10 p.m., a witness called 911 to report that a man had been stabbed near the freeway underpass at West Bonanza Road and North City Parkway.

When officers arrived, the victim was found conscious but suffering from a stab wound to his lower back. Emergency medical responders treated him at the scene before transporting him to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, Metro spokesman Jay Rivera said.

Lt. Nate Chio later said the man’s injury was minor.

Police said the suspected stabber left the scene on a bike in the direction of Lake Mead Boulevard before officers arrived.
