99 Words About … The genius return of ‘Sherlock’

It’s been a while.

Since faking his suicide of “Sherlock,” Benedict Cumberbatch has turned up in “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “12 Years a Slave,” “The Fifth Estate,” “August: Osage County” and two “Hobbits” alongside co-star Martin Freeman.

And CBS’ knockoff, “Elementary,” is halfway through its second season.

But that just makes its return (10 p.m. Sunday, KLVX-TV, Channel 10) that much sweeter.

Sherlock has some ’splainin’ to do surrounding his “death” and why Watson wasn’t told of the plan.

And “Sherlock” has plenty of fun with both.

The result is playful, funny and nearly as genius as its subject.
