Camp Broadway returns to Smith Center

Theater-loving students in Las Vegas no longer have to travel to New York City to find an authentic Broadway experience. The immersive musical theater workshop, Camp Broadway, returns to The Smith Center for the Performing Arts for the second year July 8-12.

Camp Broadway is held in cities nationwide and is the only camp in the country that taps the talent of Broadway artists, who teach the students scenes and songs from Broadway’s most famous productions. From these experts, the students learn to deliver as if they’re on stage in front of a live audience.

“As a champion for the arts and parent of a Camp Broadway graduate in two cities, I can personally attest to the invaluable experience this brings our children,” said Myron Martin, president and CEO of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. “With education at the heartbeat of who we are as an organization, Camp Broadway is such an important part of exposing arts to young people and giving them the opportunity to truly discover passions and polish talents.”

No previous experience is necessary; students ages 10 to 17 of all skill levels work together in a noncompetitive setting throughout the week, which culminates in a finale musical presentation for family and friends. Registration is $695 for Camp Broadway. There is also Shining Stars Camp for children ages 6 to 9; registration is $450.

Children are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited. For more information on Camp Broadway, visit www.thesmithcenter.com/camp
