Hot rods, hot licks to heat up Orleans

Expect an abundance of killer hot rods and hairdos nearly as big as said rides with the return of the Viva Las Vegas rockabilly weekender, one of the biggest events of its kind in the world.

Die-hards flock to The Orleans from around the globe to dress like James Dean or Rosie the Riveter, depending on one’s gender, and take in vintage, ’50-style rock ’n’ roll around the clock.

For curious onlookers, however, perhaps the best entry point to the weekend is the car show and concert that takes place in The Orleans parking lot on Saturday.

Unlike all the other Viva Las Vegas events, an a la carte ticket can be purchased to the car show festivities, which not only feature the kind of bitchin’ rods that prowled the streets of “American Graffiti,” but also a loaded lineup of bands performing including throwbacks such as Imelda May, The Trashmen, The Chop Tops and masked surf rock headliners Los Straitjackets.

Stock up on the pomade, now.
