‘It’s a Fairy Tale Christmas’ at Henderson WinterFest

Fairy tales can come true — at this weekend’s Henderson WinterFest.

The annual celebration, themed “It’s a Fairy Tale Christmas,” features a variety of free holiday activities, from gingerbread house displays to strolling performers and pony, carriage and train rides.

Preceding the main event, the Henderson Symphony Orchestra gets the fest underway at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Henderson Convention Center, 240 Water St., with a free concert featuring “Broadway Christmas Classics.”

Friday’s festivities — from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza — start with the tree-lighting ceremony, followed by a puppet presentation of “Thumbelina,” food truck and arts and crafts vendors and a variety of musical performances.

Highlighting Saturday’s noon-to-8 p.m. schedule: a 5 p.m. light parade, featuring light-bedecked floats, bands and equestrian entries.

Other WinterFest activities going on all weekend include music and dance performances, a festival of trees, Santa’s Workshop, a petting zoo, Mrs. Claus’ carousel and a Christmas Card Extravaganza painted by artists from Basic and Liberty high schools, Brown Junior High and Henderson’s City Lights Art Gallery.

The free WinterFest weekend will take place at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 Water St. For more information, call 702-267-2171 or visit www.hendersonlive.com.
