Andrew Wright took a class field trip to see “Phantom of the Opera” when he was a kid in New York City. He went strictly to get out of school for a day, but it turned into much more than that.
The winners of the 12th annual Celebrating Life! juried fine art competition were announced in a May 25 ceremony at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St.
As part of National Teen Self-Esteem Month in May, the Windmill Library, 7060 W. Windmill Lane, is presenting “Eyes of the Soul,” an art exhibit featuring the work of Heidi Haugen, a Southern California woman who died in 2001 from complications stemming from an eating disorder. The exhibit runs through Sunday.
