Smith Center adds seven shows to round out 2012-13 season

Las Vegas' Broadway connection expands as The Smith Center for the Performing Arts adds seven additional shows to its 2012-13 season, from new Tony winners to acclaimed revivals.

Joining the previously announced "Wicked" in the lineup: the Tony-winning "Billy Elliott," with a score by Caesars Palace regular Elton John, with the family-friendly "Beauty and the Beast" and "Shrek: The Musical" and such other screen-to-stage adaptations as "Catch Me If You Can" and "The Addams Family."

Although "Wicked" will play The Smith Center for several weeks, the other shows are scheduled for runs of a week or less.

Revivals of the Broadway classics "West Side Story" and "Anything Goes" round out the season, with a pair of season specials: "La Cage Aux Folles" and Green Day's "American Idiot."

Season tickets for the eight-show Broadway Las Vegas lineup start at $207 and will be available in early April; add-on tickets for "American Idiot" and "La Cage Aux Folles" tickets start at $24 each.

Tickets for individual shows will go on sale at a later date.

"La Cage Aux Folles" precedes "Wicked" Aug. 13-19; "Wicked" runs from Aug. 29-Oct. 7, and "Addams Family" checks in to The Smith Center Nov. 20-25.

"Anything Goes" kicks off the 2013 schedule Feb. 5-10, followed by "West Side Story" (Feb. 26-March 3), "Shrek: The Musical (March 19-24), "Beauty and the Beast" (April 16-21), "Billy Elliott" (May 14-19), "American Idiot" (June 11-16) and "Catch Me If You Can" (June 18-23).
