Young musicians set to shine

The Henderson Symphony Orchestra will feature winners of this year's 14th annual Young Artists Competition during a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway.

The concert is free, but a $10 donation per person is suggested. For details, call 267-2171 or visit www.hsorch.org.

In January, students auditioned before a panel of judges, and the top six instrumentalists were chosen to perform solos with the orchestra under the direction of Henderson Symphony Orchestra conductor Taras Krysa.

Performers will include Victoria Young, piano, from Miller Middle School; Tussah Heera, piano, a home-schooled sophomore; Tamas Toka, violin, from Odyssey Charter School; Grace Hauen Kim, piano, and David Chavez, viola, both from Las Vegas Academy; and Tammy Hung, violin, from Advanced Technologies Academy.
