IF ONLY THE WALLS COULD TALK

The Stanley Cup, the most traveled of all sports trophies, scored big in Las Vegas.

After appearing at a Monday press conference with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman at the Palms ghostbar, to announce details of the June 18 NHL Awards Show here, the cup was taken to Wet Republic, the pool venue at the MGM Grand, where it attracted a lot of attention.

Escorted by its regular bodyguards, the Stanley Cup attended Cirque du Soleil's "Love" on Monday night at The Mirage, where it was taken backstage to the cast, including 30-some Canadian cast members.

After a full schedule and late night featuring some power plays, the Stanley Cup joined the Hart, Calder, Vezina and Norris trophies for breakfast Tuesday at Simon at Palms Place, with chef Kerry Simon serving up French toast (of course).

Later, in the day, the Palms released a photo of the Stanley Cup tucked under the covers, head on a pillow, in one of the suites at Palms Place Hotel & Spa.
