TOM MCCARTNEY REPLACES MECCA AT PLANET HOLLYWOOD RESORT

Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino has a new president and chief executive officer.

It was announced today by Planet Hollywood co-chairman Robert Earl announced today that former Luxor executive Thomas J. McCartney has succeeded Michael V. Mecca, who resigned.

Earl said in a statement, “We are appreciative of the tremendous value Mike brought to the organization over the past six years, from the purchase of this property through its successful launch as Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, and understand his decision to resign to pursue other opportunities."

He added, “We are delighted Tom has accepted the position and with his substantial experience and drive we are confident he will be invaluable in leading the continued building of our business and brand in this market.”

McCartney has more than 25 years of experience in the casino and hospitality industry including the past 12 years with the MGM Mirage group in Las Vegas.

Earl said McCartney "has a very strong background in the Las Vegas resort and casino industry and we could not be more pleased that he is joining us and bringing this expertise to lead our management through the difficult current overall economic climate and the particular challenges facing the Las Vegas market."

McCartney most recently served as the executive vice president of Luxor Hotel & Casino where he was responsible for spearheading the repositioning of that property. Additionally, McCartney’s experience includes the opening and rebranding of New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas. Preceding his arrival to the Las Vegas market, McCartney was employed by Caesars Atlantic City.
