Chris Farley documentary features emotional interviews with comic’s friends

LOS ANGELES — “Success in show business does not always create the best version of people,” a misty-eyed Bob Saget says in the trailer for “I Am Chris Farley.”

The documentary will feature interviews from Farley’s contemporaries including Christina Applegate, Dan Aykroyd, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Molly Shannon and David Spade. Lorne Michaels also appears in the trailer, calling Farley “infuriatingly talented.”

Brent Hodge and Derik Murray directed the doc, which includes clips from Farley’s most fan-beloved “Saturday Night Live” sketches and movies including “Black Sheep” and “Tommy Boy.” The comedian died at age 33 of a drug overdose in 1997.

“I Am Chris Farley” will debut on Spike on Aug. 10, followed by a VOD release.
