Chicken Kiev fans suggest sources
June 29, 2011 - 1:00 am
Homemade chicken Kiev is a favorite in our house, but I'll confess I don't make it often because of the trickiness of keeping the herbed butter sealed inside the chicken until it bursts forth, melted, at the touch of knife and fork. So I well understand the popularity of frozen chicken Kiev, sought by Barbara Murphy and found by several fellow readers.
Denny Huff and Gordon E. Gablin emailed that it can be found at Smart & Final. Kathy Ohm said the Barber Foods brand is available in boxes of six and Antioch Farms in singles at Albertsons in the northwest part of the valley. Robin Riter, Sheila McMahon and Valda Clarke all suggested Walmart, although Clarke pointed out that it's not available at all Walmart stores; she finds it at the one at 5198 Boulder Highway. ...
For Claudia Wolt, Sandy Carley emailed that she found Stella's shaved Parmesan at Albertsons at 10250 W. Charleston Blvd., and Ken Wolt emailed to say Claudia found it at Walmart at 3615 S. Rainbow Blvd. (and the La Panzanella black-pepper crackers she was seeking at Whole Foods Market at 6689 Las Vegas Blvd. South in Town Square). ...
For Alan Bianco, who's looking for La Monica Scungili in 29-ounce cans, Tony Costanza said he gets it at Siena Foods Inc., 1335 E. Sunset Road. Nick J. Cutrone orders from Claro's Italian Markets in San Gabriel, Calif., at www.Claros.com (800-507-0450) and Richard Papaleo from Westside Foods in Rio Grande, N.J., (609) 889-2700. ...
For Claire Riley McAdams, who's looking for Carnation Instant Breakfast with no sugar added, Janeen Maxwell emailed that she orders from www.Walgreens.com. ...
For Diane Cohen, Maxwell said Old London Original Melba Toast is available at Smith's at 7130 N. Durango Drive, on the bottom shelf with the specialty crackers. ...
And for Marilyn Fuchs, Judy Garman emailed that Seabrook Farms frozen creamed spinach isn't available in Las Vegas but that she found an acceptable substitute -- "almost as good" -- in Kroger's Frozen Creamed Spinach at Smith's. ...
