Crab apples need extra work

This week readers have good news and bad news for Pat Caspary.

The bad: The spiced crab apples Caspary is seeking don't seem to be available anywhere in town. The good: Caspary expressed a willingness to make them from fresh crab apples, if necessary, and B.J. Roth e-mailed that she found those at Albertsons at 10250 W. Charleston Blvd., while Joan Draschner reported finding them at Whole Foods Market at 8855 W. Charleston Blvd. ...

For Becky Bush, who's looking for Bundt cake mixes, Arlene Gagnon wrote to say she'd seen them in a J.C. Penney catalog called "Cooks," and thanks to that tip I found them on the company's Web site, www.jcpenney.com (just enter "Bundt" in the search box), in 10 flavors. ...
