Ice-cream sundaes? Sweet spots tempt on the Strip
August 21, 2013 - 12:46 pm
Gerri Frederick is looking for super-sized ice-cream sundaes like the former Leatherby’s used to serve, and I’m guessing she’s going to have a lot of fun checking out the suggestions from her fellow readers.
Ellen Dreyer, Marilyn Taylor and Libby Casolari recommended the Messy Sundae at Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza, which has five locations in the valley, with Casolari adding that it is “big enough for two, vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauces, walnuts and whipped cream, overflowing in a giant stemmed glass.”
William Isaac recommended Serendipity 3 in front of Caesars Palace at 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South (adding that the restaurant offers a discount for Caesars’ slot-club members), Dave Reynard recommended the Peppermill at 2985 Las Vegas Blvd. South and Dolores Norelli recommended Roxy’s at the Stratosphere at 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South, adding, “We couldn’t finish them.” Casolari also recommended Carmine’s at the Forum Shops at Caesars at 3500 Las Vegas Blvd. South, where, she said, the Titanic’s “10 softball-sized scoops of ice cream can feed the entire family.” …
And for Pat Buschman, Duane Washum reported finding Jimmy Dean Sausage Crumbles at Albertsons. …
More on vinegar-based barbecue sauces: Washum recommended Memphis Championship Barbecue, which is at 2250 E. Warm Springs Road and 4379 Las Vegas Blvd. North, adding that bottles of the sauce can be ordered from the company’s website at Memphis-BBQ.com. And Ken Wolt recommended Wickers of Honersville, Mo., at www.WickersBBQ.com (800-847-0032). …
More on smoked paprika: Jan Visser found it at Trader Joe’s, Ilene Farr said it’s available at Smith’s under the Private Selections brand and Gail Stivale reported finding it at Costco at 801 S. Pavilion Center Drive. …
More on Sabrett hot dogs: Visser found them at Albertsons at 2910 Bicentennial Parkway in Henderson and at Village Meats & Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave. …
