Pastrami sandwich just like at old haunt

Reader Ray Duncan asked a few weeks ago for a hot pastrami sandwich like that served at the former Foxie's, and only one reader who responded remembered the place.

"Wow, does that bring back memories," emailed Fred Jones, who recommended Sammy's L.A. Pastrami, which has locations at 4035 S. Decatur Blvd. and 2191 E. Tropicana Ave., and Farmer Boys at 5847 S. Decatur Blvd. and 4450 N. Lamb Blvd. "Just pastrami, mustard and dill pickle on a roll," Jones noted.

His Sammy's recommendation was seconded by Van and Karen Bohrer. Eric Blum recommended the Bagel Cafe at 301 N. Buffalo Drive, Irv Atkins recommended Weiss Deli & Bakery at 2744 N. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson, and Kelly Beeson emailed a vote for the Sourdough Cafe at Arizona Charlie's Decatur at 740 S. Decatur Blvd. (there's also a Sourdough Cafe at Arizona Charlie's Boulder at 4575 Boulder Highway). ...

For Sandy Ziebart and others looking for Trident Seafoods Pubhouse Battered Halibut, Ginny and Fred Nagy and Toni Ermini noted that it's back in Costco stores. ...

For Rose Sobo, Jim Plumer reported finding Green Giant Create a Meal Stir Fry at Walmart at 2310 E. Serene Ave. ...

More on New York-style pizza: Larry Cohen recommended Rocco's N.Y. Italian Deli at 1181 S. Buffalo Drive and Rocco's N.Y. Pizzeria at 10860 W. Charleston Blvd., Christian Ayala and Maximilian Miller-Phares like the Verrazano's at 2381 E. Windmill Lane and Christine Lindemann favors Johnny Mac's at 842 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson. ...
