Polly O cheeses found

With low-fat and low-sugar foods taking up an ever-larger share of supermarket shelves -- not that that's a bad thing, considering our national weight nightmare -- it can be difficult to find the full-fat and full-sugar versions, and sometimes those are just what are needed. So I understand the frustration of Jennifer Rada, who is looking for Polly O Whole Milk Mozzarella and Ricotta Cheeses. And so, apparently, do a lot of her fellow readers.

Alex Strabala, who represents the distributor of the cheeses, said they're available at La Duca's New York Italian Deli, 72 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson; Minuto's Italian Deli, 6160 W. Tropicana Ave.; and Rocco's NY Italian Deli, 1181 S. Buffalo Drive. Janeen Maxwell and Ray Moreton also suggested Rocco's. Moreton also suggested Roma Deli, 5755 Spring Mountain Road, and he and Dan Bellina suggested Sunflower Farmer's Market, which is at 3365 E. Tropicana Ave. and 4020 S. Rainbow Blvd. Pam Harmon suggested Siena Foods, 1335 E. Sunset Road. Steven Fisher suggested Smith's at 10616 S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson, Pearl Prunetta suggested Smith's at 10100 W. Tropicana Ave. and Pam Crawford suggested Smith's in Pahrump. ...

Here's a bit of good news for all of the former Easterners who miss their split-top hot dog rolls: Gloria Castricone e-mailed that she found them at Roma Deli and they're the real deal, with toastable sides. ...

More on ham bones: DeEtte Greene e-mailed to report "a best-kept secret" that Honeybaked Ham stores sell ham bones for $5, and that their soup mix is about $5, adding, "you get so much ham you can't believe it. I had enough for a wonderful soup and sandwiches for several days." She noted that the bones aren't always available and advised calling ahead and freezing, if necessary. There are three Honeybaked stores in the valley. ...
