Readers find pupuserias

Keith Evans wanted suggestions for a good local pupuseria -- that would be a restaurant that specializes in pupusas, a thick, stuffed corn tortilla -- and a couple of readers came through for him.

Dean B. Pomerantz e-mailed that he has found the best pupuseria to be Las Pupusas at 4760 S. Eastern Ave. Dave Rinehart of Jackson, Wyo., suggested Las Pupusas at 3111 S. Valley View Blvd. and Esmeralda's Cafe, 1000 E. Charleston Blvd., which he noted is "very authentic, but fine for English-only speakers." ...

For Richard Bautista, Lucy Pusateri, owner of Siena Deli at 2250 E. Tropicana Ave., said her store carries Manhattan Special Coffee Soda. ...

More on greasy (but in a good way) bar burgers: Jonathan Rickert suggested Kilroy's at 1021 S. Buffalo Drive (there's another Kilroy's at 4340 S. Grand Canyon Drive). Anne Kellogg e-mailed that "when it comes to old-school hamburgers, no one in town" does it like O'Aces Bar & Grill, which has three locations in the valley. And Donna Alper suggested the half-pound burgers at the Turf Grill at Santa Fe Station (4949 N. Rancho Drive), Green Valley Ranch (2300 Paseo Verde Parkway in Henderson) and Red Rock Resort (11011 W. Charleston Blvd.), and Stripburger at Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South. ...

Reader requests: Rickert is looking for Cranberry Canada Dry Ginger Ale. ...

Gwen Stone is looking for Johnny's Salad Elegance from Tacoma, Wash., which she can only find in her hometown of Butte, Mont. ...

Rita Redle is looking for Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix. ...

Brian McMansky is looking for Blue Moon Ice Cream. ...

Valerie Smith is looking for Captain High Liner Grilled Cod with Garlic Butter, which she used to get at Costco. ...

Bob Summers is looking for Yoo-Hoo, which he said he can no longer find locally. ...

Robert Nathanson is looking for uncooked half-pound hot dogs. ...

Joan Swanson is looking for a bakery in or near Henderson that makes sourdough bread similar to that from La Brea Bakery in Los Angeles; she particularly misses the sourdough chocolate sour-cherry bread. ...

Allen Aldridge is looking for Krave Snack Bars from Kellogg's. ...

John Worek would like to find a local source for DaVinci Olive Oil. ...

Lin Shaw is looking for Omega brand frozen wild salmon and mahi mahi burgers. ...

Patricia Jazzo is on the lookout for Goya Discos frozen pastries. ...

Ron Oliver would like to find farm-fresh eggs. ...

Donna Rankin is looking for Lender's frozen or refrigerated bagels. ...

And Jason Blake is looking for Chinese restaurants that serve shrimp egg foo yong with the ingredients mixed in with the batter instead of the sauce, and chow mein with crispy noodles; Mexican restaurants that serve New Mexico-style flat enchiladas, and use ground beef instead of shredded; and a very thin barbecue sauce that isn't too sweet.
