Readers suggest pepper hot spots

Peppers are hotter than ever (har!) these days, showing up in more brands and varieties and being used with more foods than we could possibly have imagined a decade or so ago. One of those is Peppadew, being sought by Linda Lee Skinner, and fellow readers have found them for her.

Cin Meanor wrote that she found them on the olive bar at Smith's at 6130 W. Tropicana Ave., Karen Langbert emailed that they're on the olive bar at Whole Foods Market at 8855 W. Charleston Blvd. (I'd suggest checking with other Smith's and Whole Foods stores), and Sheila Figarsky said she buys them in glass jars at Vons at 2511 Anthem Village Drive in Henderson. ...

For Marti Munn, who's looking for Jiffy Cake Mix, Rene Mayas and Joy Bowles suggested ordering from the company website at www.JiffyMix.com (800-727-2460). And while there doesn't appear to be a reliable source in Las Vegas, Annemarie Kubicek said she sometimes finds the mixes at Wal-Mart (most recently at the store at 7175 Spring Mountain Road). ...

For Kathy Cody, John Bisci Sr. said Margarita pepperoni can be found at Siena Italian Trattoria and Restaurant, 9500 W. Sahara Ave. And for the Weber's horseradish mustard Cody is also seeking, Bisci and Lenny Licata and "Buffalo" Bob Rusnock recommended www.BuffaloFoods.com (800-867-4060). ...

For Rodney T. Elkins, Cindi Updegrove and Rob Lindley emailed that Entenmann's plain crumb cake isn't available here (I felt guilty while I was eating some a few weeks ago in South Florida). ...

For Marilyn Semones, Jan Visser emailed that chicken Kiev is available at Tverskaya, 4825 W. Flamingo Road. ...

More on New York-style Chinese food: Visser recommended Chin Chin at New York-New York, 3790 Las Vegas Blvd. South. ...
