Rap star jailed overnight after gun charge in Las Vegas

Updated August 28, 2024 - 8:23 am

Rap star Lil Baby has been arrested in Las Vegas on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm without a permit.

The headliner, whose legal name is Dominique Jones, 29, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Monday.

Jones, 29, was arrested just before dawn Monday on the Las Vegas Strip, the Associated Press reported, citing the Metropolitan Police Department.

Las Vegas attorney David Chesnoff, who is representing Jones with Atlanta attorney Drew Findling, said in a phone chat Tuesday, “To be clear, Dominique Jones has a valid Georgia carrying a concealed weapon (CCW) Permit. On his behalf, we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”

Chesnoff said the rapper was released.

Nevada does not recognize carry concealed weapon permits issued in Georgia.

Lil Baby is a headliner at Drai’s Nightclub at Cromwell. Social media posts from Monday evening show a clip of the rapper tipping $11,000 to the staff at Toca Madera at The Shops at Crystals.

A recurring Las Vegas headliner, Lil Baby performed with Lil Wayne at the 49ers’ post-Super Bowl party at Omnia at Caesars Palace.

A court date for Jones has been set for Oct. 1.
