Taylor Swift announces Vegas stop; date collides with Adele
Ever since Allegiant Stadium broke ground, the Las Vegas entertainment community was wondered if Taylor Swift would perform there. She will, confirming a March 25 date at the stadium on her “Eras” tour, in support of her new blockbuster album, “Midnights.”
Swift’s show checks a box on the stadium’s wish list of superstars who can fill such a venue. Her name surfaced as the development of Allegiant Stadium was being proposed.
The reason is simple: She sells tickets.
Swift’s 2018 “Reputation Tour” grossed $345.1 million and played to 2,888,892 fans. It was the 19th-highest-grossing tour ever, and third-largest tour ever by a female artist, according to industry platform Pollstar. But “Reputation” did not stop in Vegas. The March date is her first show in Vegas in eight years, and easily her largest.
Swift’s Vegas date will also be a collision of two of the biggest superstars in entertainment. “Weekends With Adele” closes that very night at Caesars Palace. T-Mobile is also busy with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament West Regional Finals, with Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games scheduled.
Swift announced her full tour Tuesday on Twitter.
“I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!),” Swift wrote. “The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!”

Swift is playing 27 dates in 20 stadiums on “Eras” North American leg. Presale begins Nov. 15, with onsale Nov. 17. Swift will be using Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program. Tickets are announced at $49-$449, with VIP packages up to $899, not including fees.
The date at Allegiant Stadium is one week after her debut at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Swift has previously performed in Vegas at Mandalay Bay Event Center on May 23, 2009, as part of her “Fearless Tour.” She has sidestepped the city since most recent show closing the Rock in Rio festival on May 15, 2015, a night Ed Sheeran joined her onstage for a duet on “Tenerife Sea.”
Swift most recently toured widely with “Reputation,” with her 2020 shows canceled due to COVID-19. The dates in the U.S. and Brazil re-scheduled for 2021. Those were also canceled.
Swift has been touring since 2006 and is one of the most commercially successful artists internationally. According Pollstar, she was second on the Year End Top 100 Worldwide Tours chart in 2018 with her $345.1 million tour gross. She was No. 4 on Pollstar‘s Top Touring Artists of the Decade list, with $899.6 million grossed.
“Midnights” was released Oct. 21. The concept album centers on nocturnal contemplation, inspired by 13 sleepless nights of Swift’s life. The album opened No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album charts, selling more than 1.5 million units, the fastest-selling album of the year.
“Midnights” has charted all top-10 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts in the same week, with “Anti-Hero” its top-selling, lead single.
