Whitney Cummings talks ‘Lipshtick’

“I’m really excited to be part of a comedy series in Vegas where women have their clothes on,” Whitney Cummings said during the unveiling of a summer stand-up series at The Venetian called “Lipshtick.”

The Venetian is bundling 14 female stand-ups into a series launching in July in the 740-seat Showroom, which already books Rita Rudner and Joan Rivers alongside dude-centric stand-ups such as David Spade and Tim Allen.

The lineup didn’t score Amy Schumer, but boasts two weekends with Cummings and three visits by Lisa Lampanelli — who has played larger theaters in town — along with several stand-ups who have headlined locals-oriented venues such as the South Point and Suncoast.

The Venetian booked the series in-house and came up with the “Lipshtick” banner to collectively promote them. Hotel president John Caparella said he had encouragement from his wife, Shannon, a fan of many of the stand-ups.

“Women are half of the population and we’re not really servicing that demographic,” Cummings noted in Thursday’s kickoff announcement.

After speaking seriously of the “cool shift” of female comedians multiplying in the past 10 years, Cummings let her celebrity roast side rip with a boob-a-licious running commentary on her friends in the lineup.

— Wendy Williams: “Speaking of boobs, they take up most of her torso,” adding that Williams’ “weird and random” brand of humor is “a cool get” for the lineup. July 11.

— Heather McDonald: “Her boobs are long. On ‘Chelsea Lately’ we call her Long Boobs. … What they lack in width they have in length.” With Iliza Schlesinger, who has “awesome boobs.” July 18-19.

— Rita Rudner: “A legend,” perhaps not well known to “the kids these days who are too busy taking pictures of themselves.” July 25-26.

— Caroline Rhea: “I don’t know much about her boobs, but from what I hear they’re just generally viscous.” With Wendy Liebman, Aug. 1-2.

— Lisa Lampanelli: “(She) now looks like a raging lesbian. She needs to put on a little more Lipshtick because she looks like a man in this photo.” Aug. 8-9, Oct. 3-4, Dec. 26-27.

— Whitney Cummings: “I’m so desperate for money that I’m actually coming back (in November).” But seriously folks, “I really kind of want to make Vegas my informal home. It’s one of the greatest cities in the world.” Aug. 15-16 Nov. 28-29.

— Joy Behar: Known of course for “The View,” which “I’m sure all you gentlemen love, a bunch of ladies squawking about things.”Aug. 22-23.

— Susie Essman: “You guys know Susie. She’s what you think all of your wives sound like all the time.” Sept. 5-6.

— Jen Kirkman: “This is why she’s married and I’m not. She has the balls to put extensions in,” Cummings said looking up at Kirkman’s photo. “She’s very weird and smart and was kind of a nerd in high school and got confidence. And hair extensions.” With Natasha Leggero, who “embraces her femininity so violently.” Sept. 12-13.

— Jennifer Coolidge: “You of course know her as Stifler’s mom on ‘American Pie.’ You’re already laughing, you perverts. … She’s a ridiculous person.” Sept. 19 and 20.
