Vegas Stripped: Navigating a world without sight — VIDEO

“She has full-blown cataracts,” the doctors told Raquel O’Neil’s mom.

But she’s an infant. “That’s an old person’s disease,” her mom thought.

By 22, Raquel was blind even after hundreds of eye operations. The headaches that came with her vision problems were so intense that she decided to have her eyes removed.

She met Ryan O’Neil, also blind, through the local blind community. They both work and raise their 4-year-old son Dylan.

They also spend time at Angela’s House, a local resource center for blind people, where they help teach other blind people to navigate a world without sight, something that both Ryan and Raquel have mastered.

“My wife is more independent than a lot of woman who have vision,” according to Ryan.
